Unitarian Universalism |
Unitarian Universalism is a liberal religion with its historical roots in the Jewish and Christian traditions. It does not require that its adherents adhere to any specific beliefs. It is a multi-faith religious group. Unitarian Universalists believe that religious authority lies in ourselves and not in a book, person or institution. Unitarian Universalists believe that each person has dignity and worth and should find his or her unique spiritual path. Unitarian Universalism is affectionately referred to as "UU". Unitarian Universalists are known amongst each other as "UUs" or "UUers". Although Unitarian Universalists have a great freedom of religious beliefs and expression, they nevertheless agree to the following seven principles as their covenant:
The seventh principle is the most important link between Unitarian Universalism and veganism. To find out more about Unitarian Universalism I recommend that you visit the website of the Unitarian Universalist Association. On their website you can find their Principles and Purposes. I also highly recommend that you read the pamphlet We are Unitarian Universalists by Marta Flanagan.
